Movie & Soundtrack Release: ‘The Death of Us’.

From Diigima studios, Barcelona, comes the stunning independent new movie ‘The Death of Us’. Written and directed by Cal Smyth and filmed and edited by Luca Lamorte, with a film score by Simesky & Fritch (the music making arm of ROTR), this dystopian romantic thriller builds an immaculate brooding-noir tension that mixes the dark hearts of romance and control.

As seen on IMDB and screened in Berlin’s Lift-Off festival, and premiered in Barcelona’s Zumzeig Cinema, the synopsis just touches the edges. With themes of desolation, deconstruction, the fragility of recollection, and what happens to love when survival depends on it, ‘The Death of Us’ confronts us with questions of sacrifice and digs deep into the nature of loving. See the synopsis and link to the full film below.

“Barcelona, the near future.
What would you sacrifice for love?
The Death of Us is a dystopian romantic thriller about love,
betrayal, and the thin line between what we hold onto
and what we must let go”

– Diigima Studios

Working with Diigima on this feature was a pleasure. Tag-teaming music direction, creation and arrangements with the long-time music partner Alex Simesky, it was a steep curve in learning for us both. Think it was a learning curve for Diigima too as we worked to a shared imprint and imagination. But the result is a movie that ratchets tension upon tension in a rats in a maze game of love, life and death.

Go watch the film and give Diigima some love. And welcome once again to ‘The Death of Us’.
